Within walking distance of Utrecht Central Station, some 300 colleagues from the Data, Innovation & Analysis (DIA) department join forces. A mix of experiences and personalities work here, who like to seek each other out to brainstorm and share knowledge. The department provides (internal) users with quick and reliable insight to arrive at the right actions by collecting, combining, analyzing and presenting information.
At the moment we work both at home and at the office.

Early 2020, the NS strategy ‘Sustainably accessible the Netherlands. For everyone’ was launched. Important pillars are the network of the future, stations as a hub for mobility and quality of life, flexible and versatile travel with the NS app. Flexible and versatile travel means that NS is transforming from a train company to a broad mobility company and making sustainable door-to-door travel available to everyone. Data plays a key role in all these processes and is constantly evolving. Artificial intelligence (AI) is playing an increasingly important role within data. The application of AI will increase enormously in the coming years. Many colleagues work behind the scenes from the head office in Utrecht to achieve this.
The Data, Innovation & Analysis (DIA) department is looking for a Product Owner for the AI teams within the Commerce business domain. These teams are responsible for the innovative AI products that are developed for the traveler and the Commerce domain. With these products, you have a direct influence on the journey and the experience of the travelers.
This is what you will do as Product Owner AI
As Product Owner AI within the DIA department, you act as a linchpin between our department and our business partners; you operate at the interface between IT and Business. You are responsible within the business domain Commerce for the development team that develops and manages AI products. With this team, together with the other teams, you create high-quality data products such as the Drukte dolls and customer value model that help us to proactively communicate with the traveler. You are responsible for maximizing the value from these products. In addition, you are the kickstarter for new use cases. AI is complex and the business needs support to see, shape and realize use cases.
As Product Owner AI, you have strong communication skills, you are critical and you have sufficient persuasiveness and firmness to influence people and situations based on personal authority. In addition, you are focused on change, acceptance and overcoming resistance. You easily make contacts with analysts and business partners and seek cooperation. You keep an overview and never lose sight of (business) results.
As a Product Owner you are responsible for;
– Updating the product vision and roadmap in consultation with teams and stakeholders
– Translating user requirements into suitable functional AI solutions
– Prioritizing the backlog by priority and thus ensuring that teams work on the right things
– Creating and maximizing value by deploying teams in the most effective way
– Identifying dependencies between teams
– Aligning with business stakeholders
– Involving and inspiring the teams on the goals of the business
Requirements
-HBO/WO work and thinking level
-Certified Product Owner (e.g. PSPO I)
-You have at least 5 years of demonstrable experience as a Product Owner within organizations of comparable size and complexity;
-You have at least 3 years of experience working in AA/AI teams.
-You have a “getting things done” mentality
-You have a strongly developed sense of stakeholder management
-You communicate clearly and you are decisive
-You recognize problems and set boundaries
-You take responsibility and provide constructive feedback
-With your vision you inspire colleagues and involve others in new developments
-You are analytical, have the ability to think abstractly and have good advisory skills
-You have excellent oral and written communication skills (Dutch)
